Benedict Cumberbatch lays it on the line and says he is not playing Khan in ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’

As we all continue to speculate on just who exactly Benedict Cumberbatch is playing in JJ Abrams sequel, Star Trek Into Darkness, the actor has attempted to rule out the possibility that it could be Khan.

A picture was revealed earlier this week showing Cumberbatch’s villain in a glass prison, with Spock (Zachary Quinto) and Kirk (Chris Pine) looking on. The caption that came with the picture was that Cumberbatch’s villain was called John Harrison, a name not known in the Star Trek universe (I believe), so this has only lead to more speculation, and many (including myself) believing this to be a false name to throw us off the sent. Abrams loves teasing his fans, and is very clever at either not giving anything away, or leaving cryptic clues.

Whatever you want to speculate, and whoever you believe Cumberbatch is playing, the actor recently spoke with Access Hollywood and did his best to throw everyone off the sent too. Yet another attempt by Arams to screw with our ideas? Here is what Cumberbatch said:

“I play John Harrison who’s a terrorist and an extraordinary character in his own right,” the Brit said. “He’s somebody who is not your two-dimensional cookie cutter villain. He’s got an extraordinary purpose, and I hope that at one point or other in the film you might even sympathize with the reasons he’s doing what he’s doing — not necessarily the means and the destruction he causes. But it was a great ride, not just because he’s the bad guy and the antagonist but also because he has a purpose and it’s hard not to see his point of view at certain points.”

A keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
