Director Joseph Kosinski will talk you through the trailer for epic sci-fi ‘Oblivion’, and offer some clues





There’s no denying that director Joseph Kosinski’s (Tron Legacy) epic new sci-fi, Oblivion, looks pretty damned amazing. The Tom Cruise starring film is still kind of a mystery, but Kosinski has happily shared some details on his new film with IGN.

The trailer, plus some cool behind the scenes stuff has been released with Kosinski himself providing a voiceover giving some insight into the film, the characters and how some of the scenes were put together. It makes for an interesting listen, check it out at the bottom of this post.

Joseph Kosinski directs from a screenplay written by William Monahan, Karl Gajdusek, Michael Arndt. The film is based on the comic written by Joseph Kosinski and Arvid Nelson. The film is produced by Peter Chernin, Dylan Clark, Barry Levine, Duncan Henderson, Joseph Kosinski and executive produced by Dave Morrison, Jesse Berger.

The cast includes Tom Cruise, Olga Kurylenko, Andrea Riseborough, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Melissa Leo.

Synopsis:

Tom Cruise stars in Oblivion, an original and groundbreaking cinematic event from the director of TRON: Legacy and the producer of Rise of the Planet of the Apes. On a spectacular future Earth that has evolved beyond recognition, one man’s confrontation with the past will lead him on a journey of redemption and discovery as he battles to save mankind.

Jack Harper (Cruise) is one of the last few drone repairmen stationed on Earth. Part of a massive operation to extract vital resources after decades of war with a terrifying threat known as the Scavs, Jack’s mission is nearly complete.  Living and patrolling the breathtaking skies from thousands of feet above, his soaring existence is brought crashing down when he rescues a beautiful stranger from a downed spacecraft. Her arrival triggers a chain of events that forces him to question everything he knows and puts the fate of humanity in his hands.

Oblivion will be shot in stunning digital 4K resolution on location across the United States and Iceland.
