First poster for JJ Abrams ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’ uses a familiar trick to show off its famous symbol, and its impressive too!

The first poster has now landed for JJ Abrams highly anticipated sequel, Star Trek Into Darkness, and this new piece of brilliance tops off a weeks worth of very exciting news.

So far we have learnt that those lucky enough to be seeing The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey in IMAX will be seeing a nine minute preview of the film, while those seeing the Hobbit in the usual screens (including the new 48fps format) will be blessed with the full length trailer for the film. We have also learnt the films synopsis this past week, which revealed everything and nothing about the films villain (in true Abrams style). Now we finally get the official poster!

You can see the poster below, and if you are looking at the clever way in which the symbol has been formed out of destruction and thinking “hang on a minute, I’ve seen something like this before”, then you’d be right! Check out the awesome new poster below, followed by the poster for Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises, spooky eh? However, comparisons aside, the new poster for Star Trek Into Darkness hints a dangerous and dark times ahead, and from the looks of things, a lot of chaos and destruction. The poster also features, presumably, the films villain stood in the centre, the villain played by Benedict Cumberbatch. We are still waiting to find out exactly who the hell he is!

A keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
