First poster lands for Tom Cruise starring sci-fi epic, ‘Oblivion’

The first poster for director Joseph Kosinski’s massive sci-fi project, Oblivion, has arrive on-line. Already being hailed as a “ground-breaking cinematic event” the epic sci-fi stars Tom Cruise as a drone repairman who saves a woman, but that woman turns out to cause disruption in his job and he begins to question his existence.

The massive sci-fi projwct promises to be epic, in every sense of the word, and with Kosinski already proving he can handle big sci-fi films after directing Tron: Legacy, all indicators so far are that Oblivion will be very very good.

The first official poster certainly points in the right direction of the films epic scope, and the imagery on the poster is truly breathtaking, awesome in fact. With the film currently in post-production and due for release in UK cinemas on 12th April 2013, so far all sings are pointing to a sci-fi flick to possibly rival Star Trek Into Darkness.

Joseph Kosinski directs from a screenplay written by William Monahan, Karl Gajdusek, Michael Arndt. The film is based on the comic written by Joseph Kosinski and Arvid Nelson. The film is produced by Peter Chernin, Dylan Clark, Barry Levine, Duncan Henderson, Joseph Kosinski and executive produced by Dave Morrison, Jesse Berger.

The cast includes Tom Cruise, Olga Kurylenko, Andrea Riseborough, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Melissa Leo.


Tom Cruise stars in Oblivion, an original and groundbreaking cinematic event from the director of TRON: Legacy and the producer of Rise of the Planet of the Apes. On a spectacular future Earth that has evolved beyond recognition, one man’s confrontation with the past will lead him on a journey of redemption and discovery as he battles to save mankind.

Jack Harper (Cruise) is one of the last few drone repairmen stationed on Earth. Part of a massive operation to extract vital resources after decades of war with a terrifying threat known as the Scavs, Jack’s mission is nearly complete.  Living and patrolling the breathtaking skies from thousands of feet above, his soaring existence is brought crashing down when he rescues a beautiful stranger from a downed spacecraft. Her arrival triggers a chain of events that forces him to question everything he knows and puts the fate of humanity in his hands.

Oblivion will be shot in stunning digital 4K resolution on location across the United States and Iceland.
