French director Pascal Laugier is all set to unleash his latest tale of terror on the horror community, the Jessica Biel starring The Tall Man. Now, while this looks incredibly chilling, it is a million miles from the violent, controversial horror flick Martyrs, which Laugier both wrote and directed.
I wasn’t to keen on Martyrs on first watch, and it took a second viewing to really appreciate the movie, and I now consider it one of the best horrors of the last ten years. FrightFest UK clearly love it too, and have released their very own quad poster for the film.
Taking a leaf out of Alamo Mondo’s world of specially designed posters, the FrightFest poster for Martyrs is very impressive indeed. The artwork is superb, and incredibly chilling. Says artist Gary Pullin, “I wanted to create a poster that played up the surgical aspect of the film and Martyr theme – a woman reborn in the Jesus Christ pose on a surgical cross is mysteriously fully enlightened.“
Synopsis for Martyrs:
Fifteen years after a horrifying experience of abduction and prolonged torture, Lucie embarks on a bloody quest for revenge against her oppressors. Along with her childhood friend, Anna, who also suffered abuse, she quickly descends, without hope, into madness and her own delusions.
