“I’m gonna take everything”, violent new UK TV spot bursts onto screens for ‘Gangster Squad’

A new UK TV spot for director  Ruben Fleischer’s incredibly cast Gangster Squad, and with it comes a ton of action and plenty of new footage. It seems that Sean Penn as gangster Mickey Cohen is getting a good amount of screen time in this new teaser, in fact this is probably the most we have seen of his character so far. Penn looks perfectly cast, and appears to be relishing playing a real nasty character.

The rest of the cast all look superb, with Josh Brolin heading up the team of law enforcers tasked with bringing Cohen down. Yet it is Ryan Gosling who once again shines as Sgt Jerry Wooters, clearly not afraid of Cohen, his response to a threat is a casual “well, you gotta die of something”. So far, Gangster Squad looks awesome!

Ruben Fleischer directs, and Will Beal has adapted the screenplay from Paul Lieberman’s book. Ryan Gosling heads up the cast, and joining him for the ride will be (deep breath!!), Sean Penn, Emma Stone, Josh Brolin, Nick Nolte, Giovanni Ribisi, Michael Pena, Mireille Enos, Robert Patrick, Anthony Mackie, Frank Grillo, Josh Pence, Derek Mears and Sullivan Stapleton.

Synopsis:

Los Angeles, 1949. Ruthless, Brooklyn-born mob king Mickey Cohen (Sean Penn) runs the show in this town, reaping the ill-gotten gains from the drugs, the guns, the prostitutes and–if he has his way–every wire bet placed west of Chicago. And he does it all with the protection of not only his own paid goons, but also the police and the politicians who are under his control. It’s enough to intimidate even the bravest, street-hardened cop…except, perhaps, for the small, secret crew of LAPD outsiders led by Sgt. John O’Mara (Josh Brolin) and Jerry Wooters (Ryan Gosling), who come together to try to tear Cohen’s world apart. “Gangster Squad” is a colourful retelling of events surrounding the LAPD’s efforts to take back their nascent city from one of the most dangerous Mafia bosses of all time.

Gangster Squad arrives in UK cinemas 11th January 2013.

A keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
