Jackie Chan confirms a role in ‘The Expendables 3’?

Come on, who doesn’t love Jackie Chan eh? The martial arts star is simply dazzling to watch on screen, and is a true gentleman, and if indeed what he has said is true, then seeing him in The Expendables 3 will be reason enough to go and see the film.

Now, Expendables 2 was good, but tried too hard to be bigger, better and funnier than the first film, and failed. The Expendables 3 will probably do more of the same, but now it is all about which ageing action stars can be in it to entice fans. When the third film was first announced there was talk of Harrison Ford, Clint Eastwood and even Wesley Snipes all being offered roles. Eastwood and Ford have both declined, but Snipes could be up for it once he is released from jail.

Nic Cage has also been rumoured to be playing a role, something which was unofficially confirmed a short while ago, but was quickly set straight that he wasn’t. However, my guess is that it will be officially announced later. With the majority of The Expendables cast likely return, including Mickey Rourke, it now seems like we ca add Jackie Chan to the list of characters, and that is certainly reason to celebrate!

At a press conference this week for CZ12 (AKA Chinese Zodiac), Chan stated: “Sly had invited me to be in Expendables 2 but I was too busy filming CZ12and couldn’t make a commitment to the film. But he did extend his invitation to the third movie, which I agreed on the condition that I will be appearing as more than just a minor role with a few scenes.”

So there you have it, not exactly confirmation, but definitely a reason to be excited. I would imagine there to be an official announcement soon!

A keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
