Let’s face it, the last two Fantastic Four movies were crap, and in today’s Christopher Nolan’s inspired world of serious and epic superhero movies, they appear even crapper. Fox have made the right decision to reboot their series rather than make another sequel, and have made an even better decision by hiring Chronicle’s Josh Trank to direct.
Not much is known yet about Trank’s sequel, let along what the story will be, but we can confirm a release date. According to ERC Box Office the Fantastic Four reboot will arrive on 6th March 2015. This is quite a way off, and gives Fox plenty of time to build interest in their expected to be brilliant superhero flick.
It is also a brave decision as 2015 is set to be the year of great big superhero flicks. Warner’s Justice League film is due for release in June 2015, and Marvel’s Avengers 2 arrives on 1st May 2015. This should hopefully give the Fantastic Four reboot a clear run until The Avengers 2 comes out, but facing such massive competition it is doubtful Fantastic Four will be able to compete with Avengers 2 and Justice League.
No word yet on the cast or writers, but comic book writer Mark Millar (Kick-Ass) will be serving as creative consultant.
