Putting Superman in handcuffs seems a bit silly as new ‘Man of Steel’ poster arrives

Now please, don’t get me wrong here, I am not saying that the new Man of Steel poster is silly. In fact, I am saying anything but: I think there is something very cool, and very slightly sinister about this new poster for Zack Snyder’s Superman reboot.

Seeing Superman in handcuffs, surrounded by soldiers and looking generally pissed off is an awesome sight. However, you do have to beg the question “what is the point?” Superman could snap those handcuffs like a twig if he wanted, so what purpose do they actually serve? It is clear though that in the film he might, for at least some of it, not be the hero we all know and love. A man with such strength, speed and agility probably frightens us mere humans with no super powers at all. I can only guess that the hero is wearing the cuffs to make us feel more comfortable, while deep down he is laughing at us, us pathetic mortals who he could crush with a sneeze!

Directed by Zack Snyder, produced by Christopher Noaln and written by David S. Goyer and Jonathan Nolan, the film stars Henry Cavill as Clark Kent, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Kevin Costner and Diane Lane as Jonathan and Martha Kent, Michael Shannon as General Zod and Russell Crowe as Jor-El. Also amongst the highly impressive cast are Laurence Fishburne, Christopher Meloni, Ayelet Zurer and Antje Traue.

Synopsis:

In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time. Clark Kent/Kal-El (Henry Cavill) is a young twenty-something journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond his imagination. Transported years ago to Earth from Krypton, a highly advanced, distant planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question ‘Why am I here?’ Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha (Diane Lane) and Jonathan Kent (Kevin Costner), Clark discovers having extraordinary abilities means making difficult decisions. When the world is in dire need of stability, an even greater threat emerges. Clark must become a Man of Steel, to protect the people he loves and shine as the world’s beacon of hope – Superman.

A keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
