“So, shall we begin…” the teaser trailer for ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’ is epic, and it’s here!

As promised by Simon Pegg yesterday our first proper glimpse of JJ Abrams sequel, Star Trek Into Darkness, has landed. I was expecting something good from this teaser trailer, but never expected it to be quite as good as this.

In just one shot minute the teaser trailer has secured this film as one of the most promising films of 2013, and the awesome teaser trailer is just, well, awesome! I cannot think of another word to describe it. It truly looks fantastic, and appears to be on a monstrous, epic scale.

We knew things were about to get darker in the sequel (yeh, like the title didn’t give that away!), but seriously this is intense stuff. Benedict Cumberbatch provides the voiceover thanks to his as yet unnamed villain, and his words will seriously unsettle fans. He is out for revenge, and the trailer shows that his destruction is going to be some serious shit.

We see Spock looking very very angry, Zoe Saldana’s Nyota Uhura crying, Alice Eve’s character screaming, there’s explosions, lots of lava, Starfleet crashing, Starfleet headquarters being destroyed, Kirk looks concerned and the general feeling is that all is not well. Whatever Cumberbatch’s villain is doing, it is working and he appears to have crippled Starfleet. Dark times ahead indeed, dark and very serious times. Star Trek Into Darkness really does look like Abrams at his best.

Now, before you say “is that it”, don’t forget the full length trailer will be playing infront on none IMAX screenings of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, and those lucky enough to see The Hobbit in IMAX will be treated to a full nine minute preview of Star Trek Into Darkness. The nine minute preview will not be available to watch on-line, but we will bring you the full length trailer as soon as it becomes available.

Star Trek Into Darkness is directed by JJ Abrams, and the cast includes  Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban, Benedict Cumberbatch, Zoe Saldana, Alice Eve, Anton Yelchin, Simon Pegg, John Cho and Peter Weller. Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman and Damon Lindelof are on writing duties.

Star Trek 2 will arrive in UK cinemas 17th May 2013.

A keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
