Icelandic director Olaf de Fleur Johannesson has sold a pitch to Summit Entertainment for a new sci-fi thriller called Revoc. The plot details for the film are being heavily guarded right now, but all that has been reported is that the film is “a post-alien invasion” type sci-fi with comparisons to Neill Blomkamp’s District 9 and Duncan Jones’ Moon.
Basically, those comparisons tell us that Revoc is expected to be very good indeed, and will come from the lower budget end of the sci-fi spectrum with plenty of cool ideas and originality. Consider me sold!
Johannesson has become a well known director in Iceland, and his 2011 thriller City State (Borgriki) has gotten the director noticed all over the world. David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman of Mandeville are attached to produce the film, and the pair have plenty of experience, with their new zombie horror comedy Warm Bodies gearing up for its release early next year.
