Two more TV Spots released for The Hobbit with a brief glimpse of fire-breathing Smaug!!

Two new tv spots for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey have been released online, named “Fate” and “Smaug”, which are ninth in a series of 30 second teaser trailers . Finally, even if only briefly, we get to see a glimpse of the beast, voiced by Benedict Cumberbatch, as he unleashes his fire-breathing destruction.  Although Smaug will only feature briefly in The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey,  he is set to appear heavily in the second film, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.

“Fate” features a bit on Bilbo (Martin Freeman) facing Gollum (Andy Serkis) and Thorin (Richard Armitage) telling Gandalf (Ian McKellen) that he can not guarantee a hobbit’s safety, nor will he be responsible for his fate. Although they don’t show a great deal of what we haven’t seen before, it certainly heightens the excitement as the release date draws nearer and nearer.

Directed by Peter Jackson, The Hobbit stars Martin Freeman, Ian McKellen, Richard Armitage, Elijah Wood, Christopher Lee, Luke Evans, Orlando Bloom, Andy Serkis, Hugo Weaving, Cate Blanchett, Ian Holm, Evangeline Lilly, Ian Holm, Billy Connolly and James Nesbitt. The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey will open in the UK on 13 December 2012.

“The Hobbit” follows the journey of title character Bilbo Baggins, who is swept into an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor, which was long ago conquered by the dragon Smaug. Approached out of the blue by the wizard Gandalf the Grey, Bilbo finds himself joining a company of thirteen dwarves led by the legendary warrior, Thorin Oakensheild. Their journey will take them into the Wild; through treacherous lands swarming with Goblins and Orcs, deadly Wargs and Giant Spiders, Shapeshifters and Sorcerers. Although their goal lies to the East and the wastelands of the Lonely Mountain first they must escape the goblin tunnels, where Bilbo meets the creature that will change his life forever … Gollum. Here, alone with Gollum, on the shores of an underground lake, the unassuming Bilbo Baggins not only discovers depths of guile and courage that surprise even him, he also gains possession of Gollum’s “precious” ring that holds unexpected and useful qualities … A simple, gold ring that is tied to the fate of all Middle-earth in ways Bilbo cannot begin to know.
