Yep, still have no idea what it all means, but that doesn’t mean I am not absolutely bursting with excitement to see writer and director Shane Carruth’s new head-fuck movie, Upstream Color.
The film was today added to the Berlin International Film Festival’s line-up, and will have its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in January. However, the most exciting news is the full length trailer which finally arrived today. While we have seen a few teaser trailers which left me scratching my head, the full length trailer does nothing to answer any questions, but looks absolutely stunning.
The visuals and use of music is magnificent, and I really like the fact nothing is really making any sense. Intriguing is far too simple a word to use for how this film is teasing us, it is mesmerizing to say the least. There has also been a slightly longer synopsis revealed today, but again, does not answer any questions so just read the synopsis, enjoy the trailer, but try not to think too hard about what it all means, your head might explode!
Shane Carruth both writes and directs Upstream Color, and the film sounds anything but mainstream. Carruth also appears in the film alongside Amy Seimetz (“The Myth Of The American Sleepover”), Andrew Sensenig (“I Love You Phillip Morris”) and Thiago Martins(“City Of God”).
Synopsis:
A young woman (Amy Seimetz) is abducted and seemingly brainwashed via an organic material harvested from a specific flower. She later meets a man (Carruth) and after the two fall for each other, they come to realize he may also have been subjected to the same process.
