Director Bryan Singer is putting one Hell of a cast together for his ambitious new X-Men film, Days of Future Past. The plot involves time travel, and will see two major time-lines involved. One will be after the events of X-Men: First Class (but still before the events of Singer’s X-Men film of 2000), and the second plot will take place after the events of X-Men: The Last Stand. This has allowed Singer to bring back some familiar faces including Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Sir Ian McKellen, Sir Patrick Stewart, Hugh Jackman and Jennifer Lawrence. Today Singer took to Twitter to announce yet more names returning to appear in his new film.
Here is what Singer Tweeted:
Very excited to welcome #annapaquin, @ellenpage &@shawnrashmore to #XMen #DaysofFuturePast – thank you @BrettRatner for letting them live!

Exciting news indeed! Singer is thanking Brett Ratner for not killing off any of the characters in his film, X-Men: The Last Stand, thus allowing them to return. While it is a mystery just how Rogue (Paquin) and Iceman (Ashmore) will fit in to the story, in the comics Ellen Page’s Kitty Pryde played an important role in communicating with the X-Men of the past. In the comics she helps warn the past of the assassination plots and alternate universe of the future.
Fox are expecting, as planned, to go into production on X-Men: Days of Future Past early in 2013, and are sticking to their scheduled release date of July 18th 2014. X-Men: Days of Future Past is being written by Jane Goldman, Simon Kinberg and Matthew Vaughn and will see the newly formed titular team working to prevent an alternate future where mutants are hunted by giant machines called The Sentinels.
It follows the 1980s’ comic storyline written by Chris Claremont that alternates between a present day battle against the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, and a future timeline where an assassination of a government official has led to Sentinels roaming the land and mutants held prisoner in internment camps.
So far the cast for X-Men: Days of Future Past, is looking something like this: Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Nicholas Hoult, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen,Hugh Jackman, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page and Shawn Ashmore.
