There has been speculation for years that Jurassic Park would return for a fourth film, and that speculation turned to dreams come true last year. It was announced that Rise of the Planet of the Apes writers Amanda Silver and Rick Jaffa were working on a script for the fourth film, and today Universal Pictures have gone one step further and actually given a release date for the film!
The date is June 13th 2014, so we don’t really have too long to wait in the land of movies. A year and a half is not that long, and during that time there is going to be a Hell of a lot of marketing to share with you! This really is great news. Jurassic Park 4 will also be shot in 3D.
However, a director is yet to be named, but with the release date now being confirmed, I would imagine Universal have someone in their sites. Sadly Steven Spielberg will not return to direct, but he will produce along with The Bourne Legacy’s Frank Marshall and regular Jurassic Park producer Kathleen Kennedy.
At the beginning of the script process, Kennedy said: “A great script is what it’s gonna take to get a fourth Jurassic Park. We have a very high bar for ourselves because we’re just like the audience, we don’t want to make the movie if there’s not a reason to make the movie, so we’ve kinda created the dilemma ourselves because it was never intended to be a franchise, so there’s an argument to be made…that why are you making a fourth Jurassic Park – so we gotta find a good reason for why we’re making a fourth Jurassic Park, and we’re in the midst of working on that right now”
Expect much more on this very soon!
