First poster for ‘The Last Exorcism Part 2’ is very familiar

The first poster for director Ed Gass-Donnelly’s sequel, The Last Exorcism Part 2 has arrived on-line, and you can view it at the bottom of this post.

Now, thanks to star Ashley Bell’s condition called ‘hypermobility’, she was able to bend her body in hideous ways for the sake of horror in the rather excellent first film. Horror fans were treated to genuine creepy moments where she could break bones and bend in ways not seen before without the use of CGI. This unsettling act was used to promote the film on the poster, and now it returns (as does Bell) to promote the sequel in a poster very much like the original poster. However, there is a twist!

I am sure you remember the image seen on the original poster, and I am sure you will look at the new poster and think it is pretty much the same, just that she is bent even more than last time. Well, you’d be wrong, for the poster has a very clever twist. Look closer at Bell’s stance, what do you see?

Still can’t see it? Well, let me enlighten you: the film is called The Last Exorcism Part 2, and Bell would appear to be shaped like the number 2, clever that!

Directed by Ed Gass-Donnelly (Small Town Murder Songs, This Beautiful City), The Last Exorcism: The Beginning of the End will see Ashley Bell return as Nell Sweetzer, and here she has another case of possession to deal with. Gass-Donnelly also co-wrote the film with Damien Chazelle, and Eli Roth will once again serve as a producer.

The Last Exorcism Part 2 arrives in UK cinemas 15th March.

Here is the official synopsis which was revealed at the American Film Market:

Eli Roth & Strike Entertainment bring us an even more terrifying and bigger scale sequel to THE LAST EXORCISM that grossed $70 million worldwide. It looks like Nell Sweetzer’s last exorcism was not foolproof. She is back… and so are her demons.

Continuing where the first film left off, teenage Nell Sweetzer is found dirty and terrified in the woods having just escaped a demon ritual in which a cult helped her give birth to a demon baby. Confused and scared, Nell is examined by doctors but she doesn’t remember much about the previous few months except that as a result of everything, her family is now dead. She is moved into Davreaux – a girls’ halfway house in New Orleans, where she will try to put her life back together with the help of the therapist, Frank Merle. She even begins to date a boy named Chris and starts a job at a local hotel.

But something doesn’t feel right to Nell. She is being sought after by the demon who possessed her in the first LAST EXORCISM. It wants Nell, but in a different way than before…

A keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
