Looks like its going to be an awesome 2013 in Manchester this year as Grimm Up North screen double bills of not only some of the latest releases but also a number of horror classics sure to leave spines tingling. Take a look what the end of this month has in store for all you horror fans.
TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE & LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT. On the 23rd January, whilst the new movie in Texas Chainsaw franchise is released to UK audiences, Grimm are screening the original classic from 1974. And what would a Grimm screening be without a double bill?! They’ve got a second classic, The Last House on the Left, to accompany TCM. With two movies that were banned upon their original release, true horror fans won’t want to miss out to see these masterpieces on the big screen! The screening takes place at The Dancehouse, Oxford Street, Manchester.
TOWERBLOCK & HOLLOW. On the 26th January, Grimm have got a night of New British Horror. Towerblock is the latest release from the writer of Cockneys vs Zombies, James Moran and features some of the best of young British acting talent such as Sheridan Smith and Russell Tovey, whilst Hollow follows in the wake of rural horrors such as The Wickerman, and is produced by Manchester based Matt Holt who will be with us for the screening. MON AMI & CHOP. On the 31st January, Grimm are hosting a Bloody Black Comedy night and will be screening two movies that will be released in the UK by Grimm Entertainment this year. Mon Ami is a Canadian movie pitched somewhere between Clerks and The Cottage and is bursting with dark comedy and plenty of blood! With a trail of critical acclaim and awards being left in its wake, the regional premiere is sure to be a winner! Chop is the directorial debut from Trent Haaga, the screen writer of Dead Girl, a joyously mean-spirited and flat-out weird little romp that is nasty, gory and grimly hilarious.
