“It’s time to know the truth”, first TV spot arrives for Tom Cruise starring sci-fi ‘Oblivion’

2013 is going to be one hell of a year for sci-fi, and director Joseph Kosinski’s Oblivion just might be one of the biggest of the year (in all reality, nothing will top Star Trek Into Darkness). The epic and action packed film looks terrific, and has a great story about the end of humanity as we know it.

There also appears to be a slight twist in the tale for Tom Cruise’s Jack Harper after he finds a community of survivors still living on Earth. This is the sort of stuff sci-fi films were intended for, and while this sort of story has been done before, Oblivion is in the hands of a very talented director (Kosinski previously directed Tron: Legacy) and with not only Tom Cruise starring but also Morgan Freeman and Olga Kurylenko, I don’t really see this one failing.

A brand new TV spot has now landed to tease us even more, check it out below.

Joseph Kosinski directs from a screenplay written by William Monahan, Karl Gajdusek, Michael Arndt. The film is based on the comic written by Joseph Kosinski and Arvid Nelson. The film is produced by Peter Chernin, Dylan Clark, Barry Levine, Duncan Henderson, Joseph Kosinski and executive produced by Dave Morrison, Jesse Berger.

The cast includes Tom Cruise,Morgan Freeman, Olga Kurylenko, Andrea Riseborough, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Melissa Leo.

Oblivion arrives in UK cinemas 12th April.

Tom Cruise stars in Oblivion, an original and groundbreaking cinematic event from the director of TRON: Legacy and the producer of Rise of the Planet of the Apes. On a spectacular future Earth that has evolved beyond recognition, one man’s confrontation with the past will lead him on a journey of redemption and discovery as he battles to save mankind.

Jack Harper (Cruise) is one of the last few drone repairmen stationed on Earth. Part of a massive operation to extract vital resources after decades of war with a terrifying threat known as the Scavs, Jack’s mission is nearly complete.  Living and patrolling the breathtaking skies from thousands of feet above, his soaring existence is brought crashing down when he rescues a beautiful stranger from a downed spacecraft. Her arrival triggers a chain of events that forces him to question everything he knows and puts the fate of humanity in his hands.

Oblivion will be shot in stunning digital 4K resolution on location across the United States and Iceland.

A keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
