It was less than 24 hours ago that news broke of Christopher Nolan’s possible next film. Titled Interstellar, the time travel sci-fi story has been written by Nolan’s brother Jonathan, and Paramount have been in “very complex” discussions with Christopher Nolan to direct the film.
In a shocking turn of events, Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises was snubbed by the 2013 Oscar nominations, but the director is rising above it and hopefully moving on with Interstellar. Deadline is now reporting that Christopher Nolan is going to re-write his brothers script, and will be adding his own original ideas to the story. Nolan is set to work on this over the next few months, and will only direct the film if he manages to craft a script he is happy with.
With the news comes another brief description of the story: The idea behind the film is that it will “depict a heroic interstellar voyage to the farthest borders of our scientific understanding.”
Steven Spielberg also showed an interest in being part of Interstellar a short while ago, but nothing has been reported on whether he will still be involved if Nolan takes the directing job.
