I love practical effects, stop-motion animation and gore, but most of all I love a good story! I adore B-movies and exploitation films in many of their guises and also have a soft spot for creature features. I review a wide range of media including movies, TV series, books and videogames. I'm a massive fan of author Hunter S. Thompson and I enjoy various genre of videogames with Kingdom Hearts and Harvest Moon two of my all time favs. Currently playing: Tembo: The Badass Elephant, Yakuza Zero and Payday 2.

  1. “Quentin – it’s about love, not dick”. Madonna wrote that in a copy of her ‘Erotica’ album after meeting him at a party. From Reservoir Dogs opening salvo discussing ‘Like A Virgin’, through to his recent defensive interview for Django Unchained, Tarantino has never shied away from his origins. He’s a movie fan who treats each film as a love-letter to countless genres. He’s adapted Elmore Leonard’s Rum Punch with his distinctive style, and less we forget that Tony Scott and Oliver Stone have seen fit to adapt his screenplays with similar aplomb. Maybe it IS about love after all!

  2. I like Reservoir Dogs because it is full of dialogue and action that is to the point of the story and is not as overly drawn out as much of Tarantinos other films.

  3. From Dusk to Dawn is my fave!! BUT I like Resevior Dogs too because that movie was a trip! Q.T. is a really good story teller 🙂

  4. tarantino is like no other! the stuff that goes on in his head is crazy but he makes a great film keeping you glued to the goings on thats for sure! reservoir dogs should be an all time classic for everyone coolness cant be more personified!! blood, gore, style, and loads of wtf moments now thats entertainment! 😉 he`ll keep legendary status for his work so far but i really hope there`s a ton of stuff to come yet!

  5. How can I answer this in less than 100 words? Go arty farty to win a competition talking about his directorial style, the camera angles and quoting other people views about how great he is?
Or popularist view. Great action scenes, right balance of violence, sex , pathos and comedy?
Or from the heart, makes 70’s B movie style hip and trendy, who else can devote a scene to discussing a French quarter pounder and make it riveting?
All of the above apply, every one’s a winner and I hope I am too.Tarantino all the way

  6. Quentin Tarantino is a film geek who makes films for other film geeks. He has an encyclopediatic knowledge of film and music that he uses to make his films. The films are full of snappy dialogue, cultural references and twists and turns. The sound tracks are treats in themselves, he re-discovers forgotten stars, he makes films that he wants to see and that we do as well.

  7. Tarantinos films are just so raw and visceral. There is always something so cool to see and they’re full of action!

  8. Kill Bill

For the humor, the lines, the fight scenes. My favorite scene was oddly the one where she gets the sword from Hattori Hanzo. Completely in Japanese, but enjoyable, and our blond warrior gets some sage advice about the way to her battle.

Second favorite scene would be the slow-motion walk with O-Ren Isshii and her posse of yakuza! The swagger the suited yakuza had, the delicate poise O-Ren had. Perfect!

  9. His films are visually stunning even when the scene is horrendously gruesome. His films bring humour into taboo areas. Finally, and, most importantly, his films always have a happy ending – although not always in the conventional sense.

  10. For me, it’s all down to quality writing and direction. He really knows how to nail dialogue to keep a scene going. Another thing that makes Tarantino different from other directors is his use of music within film. Pulp Fiction is a perfect example of using music to tell a story.

  11. His films are different and original from anything else in the theatre.
He has a unique style, lots of violence , big explosions and lots of gun shooting, fab retro music, interesting characters, creative storytelling.

Tarantino knows what he’s doing and does it extremely well

  12. i love these films as action throughout and keep you sitting on edge of seats. enjoyed every single one of them

  13. He pushes the boundaries, that many directors wouldn’t. Visually, each scene is stunning and clearly very thought out. He’s artistic but in a subtle way. I like the fact he has a sense of humour too and this shows in the films. He clearly enjoys what he does and this is evident in his films.

  14. With Quentin it’s a True Romance,
Just like that groovy Pulp Fiction dance,
Unique, and we all love a thriller
From Kill Bill to Natural Born Killers
    Watchable From Dusk Till Dawn,
His films will never make you yawn,
    With characters like evil Gogo,
    He’s so original is Tarantino

    • Why do I love Tarantino films? Cos He’s one BAD MOFO! His dialogue style is one-of-a-kind and has been inmitated countless times, but never replicated. His love for swearing and blood spraying everywhere for entertainment is iconic and the guy makes films for us to enjoy, guilt free. To this day, I’m still left curious by what’s in the briefcase in Pulp Fiction. Maybe Marcellus’ underwear. 😉 Forever quotable, Tarantino is the film fan’s filmmaker. Django Unchained proves that Tarantino is still at the top of his game.

  15. He is a master at what he does – he truly loves cinema and knows whst makes us tick.
I like how he makes female characters strong – not usual in cinema.
He can make the mundane exciting and the exciting and sick normal .

    He is a legend.

  16. What can you say about Taratino? The guy is a legend! Everything he does is hard and to the point with the emphasis on maximum impact with minimum waste.

  17. Tarantino blends passion, violence, blood, gore and action together into visually stunning movie masterpieces. Tarantino is simply awesome!

  18. I liked Kill Bill, it was inspiring to watch, but as this is only one of Tarantino’s films that are so good, and different to the mane stem that comes out of Holy Wood.

  19. Tarantino films are in a class of their own
They can sometimes lower the tone
But I love his films they are a great see
A great escape from the real life for me
He’s a legend on the movie scene
His new movies I’m keen to see!

  20. His films are always interesting, keeping my attention throughout. I find I appreciate them more on each additional viewing Must watch Jackie Brown again have been meaning to do so for ages.

  21. Tarontino an amazing expert in cult
    Brilliantly made, what a result
No-one can dispute his talent in directing
Amazing movies with a way of connecting
Reservoir Dogs such well written crime
Pulp fictions my favourite to watch all the time

  22. I just love the use of Weird creatures and the way the films are made with classic Black, and plenty of reds in every film of his there is a fun and Horror element, some wacky some just out of this world!

  23. I remember seeing reservoir dogs at the cinema and being blown away. I love the dialogue in that film, particularly the discussion in the diner about madonna. True Romance, where Tarantino wrote the screenplay, is probably my favourite movie of all time.

  24. T – talented
    A – artistic
    R – realistic
    A – adroit
    N – notable
    T – terrific
    I – imaginative
    N – notable
    O – outstanding

  25. I love Pulp Fiction. I thought that i would hate it as i am not really a lover of violent films however it was so clever how it is directed. One of the only films that i ican watch over and over again.

  26. Reservoir dogs which filmed in a shed,
Copper gets caught loses ear on his head,
Pulp fiction stories, came together as it run,
Sam and John terrorize thro barrel of a gun,
kill bill came along, banana wielding sword,
dusk to dawn crazy night of vampires explored,
many classic movies, though quirky storylines
All i really gotto say is wish prize were mine.

  27. I feel honoured to be invited into Tarantino’s mind if not a bit quirky at times, and defiantly bordering on the bizarre he is a master of film production and can’t wait to see where his ideas lead us into the future.

  28. I love Tarantino because his films are thrilling, intense, funny, dark, scary… basically they evoke many emotions and most of all they are cool as f**k

  29. Pulp Fiction moved me in a way a film had never managed to do before, the whole ‘ full circle ‘ approach of the storyline was so innovative i never get bored of watching it. Reservoir Dogs was a another ‘must see’ even the soundtrack was ground breaking, the characters were so well thought out you got to wondering why no one had ever thought of doing that before.

  30. With Quentin Tarantino you always know
Raw and uncompromising is what you will get.
His films are known for their savage edge
So to this manI know that I am in debt.
A fav has to be Pulp fiction for me
But not to be watched when Mum’s here for tea!

  31. The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of the darkness. For he is truly his brother’s keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know I am the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you.
Especially if I don’t win this!

  32. Dusk Till Dawn is just down right fun. I could pick up and watch this movie any time. You just have a blast with it. Its hard not to. It starts off as a crime caper, following a spree of the fictional Gecko brothers played by George Clooney and Tarantino himself. Half way threw, the movie takes a completely unexpected turn into chaos. Love it!!

  33. Tarantino films are simply every film geeks dreams, come to reality. They are all his loving tributes to the cinema he grew up and continues to watch. He’s a sponge who soaks up inspiration from world cinema, and then regurgitates it in his own unique way, ironically spawning numerous imitators. From talented screenwriter to visceral director, when on top of his game, no one in American cinema comes close to Tarantino.

  34. From the moment I saw Kill Bill, I knew I wanted to be a Samurai warrior… I ordered myself one of the replica swords, and even did the whole Karate Kid ‘wax on, wax off’ mantra. I’d stand for hours in the living room, copying the moves from the film (yes I am THAT much of a geek). I retired from Samurai warrior training after I seriously damaged my mother’s light shade when I became slightly overzealous with an overhead sweep… Also I came to the realisation that I couldn’t pull off canary yellow leather, nor did any of the job sites have the ‘Samurai warrior wanted’ ad that I was looking for.

Now to see Django Unchained. Will it make me want to become a Cowboy? There’s no doubt. Tarantino is the master of all things cool!

    • When I saw Kill Bill, I knew I wanted to be a Samurai warrior… I ordered a replica sword, and I’d stand in the living room, copying moves from the film (yes I’m THAT big a geek). I retired from Samurai training after I damaged my mother’s light shade when I became overzealous with an overhead sweep… Also I came to the realisation that I couldn’t pull off yellow leather, nor did job sites have a ‘Samurai warrior wanted’ ad.
Next Django Unchained. Will it make me want to be a Cowboy? No doubt. Tarantino is a master of film!

  35. I love Tarantino because with every film you discover countless other classic films that influenced him.

  36. I love Reservoir Dogs. His films are not just your average run of the mill they are thought provoking and different.Love Em.

  37. I love tarantino films because I’m an avid film fan/maker and if someone who worked in Blockbuster can make monumental pieces of film like he does then it gives hope to everyone trying to get into the industry. P.S. His films are phenomenal!

  38. You, flock of seagulls, you know why we’re here? (Pulp Fuction)

We are here for the blu-rays.. So ‘let’s get rambling’ (Resevoir Dogs)

.. Tarantino is a genius, we want to own these movies, so basically ‘shut your raggedy ass up’ (Jackie Brown), end this competition, and let us win!

  39. Tarantino movies have a unique style. Excessive violence, unique dialogue, retro vintage music, foul language, interesting characters, creative storytelling, pervasive machismo.

A lot of people love Tarantino for his over-the-top gratuitous violence. Shootouts, sword fights, torture scenes, people soaked in blood, etc.

I like Tarantino more for his dialogue. The conversations sound natural, but are loaded with obscure pop culture references or unusual ideas. And his movies are treasure troves for memorable quotes. Bizarre phrasings, clever quips, etc. It’s good stuff.

He also tells some ineteresting stories. Stories about hitmen, assassins, and criminals who are just regular people doing their jobs and living their lives.

His movies may be hit or miss, but the guy’s got his own style and a lot of people seem to be digging it. It’s not for everybody and it’s okay if it’s not your thing.

  40. I love them because each one is well told, and very different. The actors are always top class, and there are never any dull moments. He really is one of the best directors of our time.

  41. I love Quentin Tarantino cause he’s quite simply the best director ever. Not one bad, or okish film. They are all ace. Compulsive viewing !!

  42. I love all his films you watch them over and over and there always seems to be bits you never noticed before. The details are so finely tuned. Everything has its reason and you finally notice. Pulp fiction is by far the best film ever.

  43. Tarantino does what not many film writers can do – Creates a film that captivates you through dialogue ( even thought most of it makes no sense) it holds your attention!!

  44. Gritty realistic film-making, witty intelligent and engaging dialogue, genuinely funny moments during well timed and well built tension. His ability to throw you one way then the other, taking away any level of predictability. The cameos he has are just plain weird and not to the style of the actor playing it (Jonah Hill for example) and the replay factor.. I cannot count how many times I have been able to just throw in a Tarantino movie and watch it knowing I will stay with it to the end.

  45. Tarantino is just a great storyteller. The Kill BIll films were amazing and I am really looking forward to Django Unchained!

  46. Tarantino movies are edgy unique and full of surprises, he is a genius in every sense of the word. Probably some of the best movies made in my lifetime

  47. If you allow yourself to look inside your tidy mind maybe there is just a little bit of a Tarantino character in YOU?
The snake spat poison onto her ‘chic’….
    You FCUK’d with my stapler….
You said I managed the department like ‘The Devil Wears Prada’….
Staple your sleeves to the a band saw conveyor….
    Mr McGregor blasted the thief….
You took my ‘I love Peter rabbit’ mug….
Mrs Pink meets Vincetta Vegas meets Jackie Brown (my maiden name)

  48. I just love a Tarantino movie
Its entertainment even for a newbie

I watched my favourite Reservoir Dogs
A heist film with pink, brown and lots of cops

    Violence, shooting and gore
Who could really ask for more

A director who pushes the limits
And who uses pop culture to set the remit

Certain actors always get great parts
Like jackson, Keitel, buscemi and Madsen

Shock, horror, just bloody good fun
Is always guaranteed if you pick one

I just love a Tarantino movie by anna w

  49. When I saw Kill Bill, I knew I wanted to be a Samurai warrior… I ordered a replica sword, and I’d stand in the living room, copying moves from the film (yes I’m THAT big a geek).

  50. I love his films because all his films are original, they are all different to each other and they are all classics. Reservoir dogs was released ages a go but the storyline is so well told in that film and its like no other film this is why I always look forward in seeing the films that he directed.

  51. Doing violence right.
Characters chatting about pop culture without seeming tragic, try hard or nerdy.
great use of music – cool without being tied down to established ideas of cool/naff music.
    & because he’s such a fucking geek.

p,s perfect timing – Like A Virgin’s just come on the radio – honest.

  52. Quentin Tarantino is without a doubt the single most influential director of his generation. His films pound with energy, infused with both references to popular culture and a delicious black humour.
I love his unconventional methods of story-telling, his vivid main antagonists with their twisted philosophy and world view. Equally bold is his espousal of forgotten actors, revitalising the careers of John Travolta, Bruce Willis, David Carradine and Pam Grier. Touchstone, pioneer, iconoclast; Tarantino has helped redefine world cinema for the 21st century. My favourites remain the stunning Reservoir Dogs and the groundbreaking Pulp Fiction.

  53. I love the scripts, the dialogue is so well written, and the soundtracks are immense! The use of colours as character names in RD was genius as those names stay with you even after all these years. I love that he doesn’t feature violence just because “it’s Hollywood” but because it’s key to the story being told, and that the films are timeless and I never tire of watching them. Oh, and because he made John Travolta cool again and I appreciate that ;D x

  54. Tarantino’s films are tightly crafted and horrific, but unforgettable and have become a must see.

  55. Quentin’s films clearly excite,
But along with which they could give you a fright,
But when I get scared I just google his face,
and then laugh at the fact it”s clearly misplaced!

  56. “Now Yolanda, we’re not gonna do anything stupid, are we?” “You don’t hurt him.” “Nobody’s gonna hurt anybody. We’re gonna be like three little Fonzies here. And what’s Fonzie like? Come on Yolanda what’s Fonzie like?” “Cool?” “What?” “He’s cool.” “Correctamundo. And that’s what we’re gonna be. We’re gonna be cool.”…..I can quote his films all day 😉

  57. Quentin Tarantino’s first film Reservoir Dogs, set the world alight for the film was ground breaking. It illustrated the movie making magic of the master of film making.

  58. I like Tarantino movies because of the influence of Italian movies in his works. It is like watching Italian Spaghetti western and generally speaking B-movies from the 70’s and 80’s in Hollywood style. And that is really great!

  59. what is not to love? But something that never ever fails in a Tarantino film is the soundtrack, man that guy knows a good song to use in a scene

  60. Tarantino makes sure there is lots of action and plenty of twists, he keeps your mind active and your bum on the edge of the seat!

  61. To put it simply he is just amazing i love him , Especially when he was in from dusk til dawn i thought his acting was brilliant he has the right face he is very talented 🙂

  62. Tarantino is a wordsmith he is the master of dialog, you can sit and watch 2 people talk for half an hour and still be entertained, example: The big mac scene in pulp fiction.

  63. Tarnatino never ceases to break the mold. From Dusk til Dawn to Pulp fiction, his films are innovative, entertaining and often shocking. It is no mean task in this day and age to maintain such an individual style. He also knows the importance of a good sound track!

  64. IF you go to a movie and it’s exactly as you imagined from the trailer it’s never very satisfying. When you go to see a Tarantino film you never have an idea of what to expect except that it’s probably going to be pushing a boundary or two, will not be predictable or run of the mill….AND it’s likely to have a fantastic sound track.

  65. Because every film is outstanding. Reminds me of the quote re. James Joyce that he did not write much but everything he published was a masterpiece. You know Tarantino will deliver and the long wait between films builds up the anticipation and expectancy. Also, you can hear his sincere passion for cinema when he speaks and you know that that passion drives every one of his movies. I love all of them but my favourite is Reservoir Dogs – it`s almost theatrical in parts but you sense the real understanding of cinematic genre and the desire to add to the canon.

  66. His films draw you in to the murky underworld, leave you feeling strangely disturbed as the characters develop & quite glad that they are not a part of your reality! A bit like distant relatives, great to see for a couple of hours, but happy they’re not close relatives!

  67. I love them because…
They are thrilling, chilling, fascinating, awesome, action packed, THEY ROCK!!!!!!!1

  68. Original scripts, when talking about the tipping of waitresses in Dogs for eg, thought provoking, entertaining and atmospheric are good ways to describe all of his films. They aren’t all similar, new stories but keep you gripped from start to finish too.

  69. Might be a strange thing to say he is about the only writer/director where reading his scripts is as good as watching the films. I read both Reservoir and Pulp scripts before I saw the films and it was amazing how well the written word translated to the screen (the shooting of Marvin being one of the best examples)

  70. I like his films because he isn’t afraid of the controversy his creations often incur. He isn’t afraid to tackle taboo subjects and often lends a slight hint of the ridiculous and sublime to those taboos

  71. In my younger days I was an avid watcher of Horror and 18 rated films and with my then girlfriend now wife being young and impressionable, I forced/asked 😉 her to watch them with me. As her power has grown over the years she has rebelled and refused. Along comes my savior Tarintino with his brilliantly scripted masterpieces with oodles of 18 rated action. My Wife’s still not a big fan of the Violence but she loves his films especially Inglorious and Django and balanced has been restored to the household evening viewing!

  72. Quentin Tarantino’s is the king of directors
He stands out from the crowd
    Big, strong influential and proud
His movies are infused with music, violence and gore
His movies are never a bore
    Kill Bill was simply brill
A movie favorite of mine still
    Movies galore including Pulp Fiction
Makes his movies a pure addiction

  73. They are unique edgy and very compelling, the way he directs the camera really brings the characters to life

  74. Tarantino make superb movies, blood, action and alway something to make you laugh – Reservoir Dogs, Stuck in the Middle with you moment, classic!!!

  75. Finely crafted, superb cinematography and ironically horrific but fascinating and unpredictable.

  76. Jules: You know what they call a Quarter Pounder with cheese in France?
    Brett: No.
    Jules: Tell ‘em, Vincent.
    Vincent: A Royale with cheese.
Jules: A Royale with cheese! You know why they call it that?
Brett: Because of the metric system?
Jules: Check out the big brain on Brett! You’re a smart motherfucker. That’s right. The metric system. – Pulp Fiction

  77. I love Tarantino films
    They all are simply great
From Ninja Brides with sexy thighs
And ears served up on plates!
