In director Shane Black’s Iron Man 3, Don Cheadle is back as ‘Rhodey’, and it is not just Tony Stark’s Iron Man suit which is getting a bit of a makeover. Rhodes dons a new suit in the third Iron Man film, and that suit is known as ‘Iron Patriot’.
While we have seen brief glimpses of Iron Patriot in the trailers, a new poster revealed by Marvel yesterday allows us to take in the delights of the Iron Patriot suit without all the commotion going on around. The new poster was teased earlier this week when Marvel revealed just a small amount of the image, but now the full poster has been released, so check it out below.
Iron Man 3 is directed by Shane Black (Kiss Kiss Bang Bang), and Black also co-writes with Drew Pearce. Iron Man 3 stars Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man, Marvel’s The Avengers) as the iconic Super Hero character Tony Stark/Iron Man along with Gwyneth Paltrow (Iron Man,Iron Man 2,) as Pepper Potts, Don Cheadle (Iron Man 2) as James “Rhodey” Rhodes and Jon Favreau (Iron Man,Iron Man 2) as Happy Hogan. Iron Man 3 continues the epic, big-screen adventures of the world’s favorite billionaire inventor/Super Hero, Tony Stark aka “Iron Man.” Sir Ben Kingsley will be playing the role of the villain, The Mandarin, and Guy Pearce will play the role of Aldrich Killian.
Iron Man 3 kicks off Marvel’s Phase Two on 26th April 2013.
Marvel Studios’ “Iron Man 3” pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy’s hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?
Hayley Attwell to cameo in Captain America: The Winter Soldier?
In a recent interview with Collider, actor Stanley Tucci expressed his joy of being in the first Captain America film, and also said of his admiration for the director of that film, Joe Johnston.
“I loved making that movie. I had a great time. I really like Joe Johnston. I think he’s a wonderful director. I also love the look of the film, and the tone of the film, and the character was great. I was thrilled to be able to play that. I was so sad that I died because I wanted to come back and do another one. It was great to be offered this old, German scientist. I thought, “Oh, that’s great.” I couldn’t tell if I was really flattered or insulted. I don’t know” said Tucci.
He also went on to describe the friendship he had found with fellow actress Hayley Atwell, and just might have dropped a bombshell of a secret Marvel had been hiding. Marvel have be known for their secrecy in not revealing cameos or other characters in their films until the last minute, and with all the rumours of will she or won’t she be returning, Tucci just might have revealed to Collider Marvel’s secret.
In the first film, Atwell played Peggy Carter, and her character was left behind in 1940’s where Captain America was frozen, meaning she wouldn’t be back for the sequel. Atwell has already said that she will not be returning, but this may have been a move by Marvel to put people off the idea that she will be back.
Tucci recently had dinner with Atwell, and she says that the actress will be returning. When asked if Marvel had called him up to return, he said:
“No, they haven’t, unfortunately. I’m really sad. I know that Hayley is going back to do a flashback scene, but I have not been asked”
It is already known that Captain America: The Winter Soldier will feature plenty of flashbacks, so if Atwell is indeed in the film, then I would assume it will be a cameo in flashback form.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier will star Chris Evans, Cobie Smulders, Frank Grillo, Emily VanCamp, Sebastian Stan, Scarlett Johansson and Samule L. Jackson. The film will be directed by Anthony and Joe Russo.
The film has not yet begun production, but has a release date of 4th April 2014.
As Steve Rogers continues his affiliation with S.H.I.E.L.D and struggles to embrace his role in the modern world, he’s reunited with James ‘Bucky’ Barnes, who is now brainwashed Russian assassin known as the ‘Winter Soldier’.
