Marvel updates: Rumours surface for possible ‘Hulk’ movie, and ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ finds its lead actress

Way back in September we reported on how Marvel President Kevin Feige had hinted at a possible stand-alone Hulk movie to follow The Avengers 2, and back then Feige also expressed a huge interest in using two possibilities for a Hulk movie. The two Hulk stories that Feige mentioned back then were ‘Planet Hulk’ and ‘World War Hulk’. Now it would appear that there is even more concrete evidence that these two stories just might be what is used when Hulk does eventually get his own film again, and hopefully puts to rest the last two Hulk films once and for all.

Everyone who saw The Avengers will agree that Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk was the best yet, and the actor signed a six-movie deal with Marvel, so it is a given that a Hulk film WILL happen, the question is when and just what story will be the focus.

Yes, ahead there could be spoilers for The Avengers 3!!!

So, Marvel will kick off Phase Two with Iron Man 3 here in the UK on 26th April, and Phase Two will then consist of the following:

Thor: The Dark World- 8th November 2013

Captain America: The Winter Soldier- 4th April 2014

Guardians of the Galaxy- 1st August 2014

The Avengers 2- 1st May 2015

It is thought that The Avengers Two will conclude Phase Two, and Phase Three will kick off with the already planned Ant-Man on 6th November 2015, and also Dr Strange has been added to Phase Three. It is also thought that a Hulk movie would appear in Phase Three, and Latino Reviews El Mayimbe dug up some information on what might be happening.

Latino Review are a very trusted site, with sources close to Marvel and usually, what they print tends to come true. The site is saying the The Avengers Two will have either a third act or post-credits scene to set up the new Hull film. Apparently, after being deemed a serious threat to the Earth by Marvel’s Illuminati (a secret organization of powerful heroes that includes Tony Stark/Iron Man, the soon to be introduced Doctor Strange and others), the Hulk is shipped off into space. This sets up the story of Greg Pak’s Planet Hulk.

Planet Hulk see’s the green giant shipped off to Space and eventually landing on Planet Sakaar, and there the Hulk is enslaved as a gladiator and spends his time fighting in vicious arenas, battering aliens. He eventually becomes a hero among the rebellion against The Red King. Now this story could be a gamble for Marvel, but one that will pay off.

However, the plan is to also use the World War Hulk story, also written by Pak, for The Avengers Three. In World War Hulk, he returns to Earth, even more pissed off than before, and wants revenge on those who banished him. However, Hulk does not come alone and with him comes his new army of followers from the Planet Sakaar. Basically, Hulk brings aliens to Earth to get revenge of The Avengers and S.H.I.E.L.D, and the stage will be set for one almighty punch up. It is also reported that Hulk will create his own Gladiator games on Earth so that each and every superhero will have to fight. No, both these ideas sounds hugely exciting, and fingers crossed this report turns out to be true.

In further Marvel news, Deadline reported over the weekend that Captain America: The Winter Soldier has found its lead actress. Emily VanCamp, best known for her roles in TV series’ Revenge and Brothers and Sisters, is in talks to play the lead female role of Sharon Carter. Carter is a S.H.I.E.L.D operative who is the niece of Peggy Carter, and will no doubt become the love interest of Captain America. The role had previously been linked to actresses Mary-Elizabeth Winstead, Anna Kendrick and Alison Brie.

This will mark VanCamp’s first venture into feature length films.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier will star Chris Evans, Cobie Smulders, Frank Grillo, Sebastian Stan, Scarlett Johansson and Samule L. Jackson. The film will be directed by Anthony and Joe Russo.

The film has not yet begun production, but has a release date of 4th April 2014.

As Steve Rogers continues his affiliation with S.H.I.E.L.D and struggles to embrace his role in the modern world, he’s reunited with James ‘Bucky’ Barnes, who is now brainwashed Russian assassin known as the ‘Winter Soldier’.

A keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
