Add Gary Oldman to any film, and I’ll watch it. The British actor is mesmerizing in every role that he plays, and his talents are so good that in my personal opinion, he can make a film just by his presence alone. The incredibly talented actor continues his run of big movies after appearing in the Harry Potter films, Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy and Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy as yet another massive film has now been added to his resume.
Deadline is reporting that Oldman has signed on to star in Matt Reeves’ sequel, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. Oldman will join the recently announced Jason Clarke and Kodi-Smit McPhee, plus the returning Andy Serkis.
Reports are saying that Dawn of the Planet of the Apes takes place 15 years after Rise of the Planet of the Apes, which was directed by Rupert Wyatt and starred James Franco. One of the focuses of the new film will be a group of scientists struggling to survive now that the Apes have taken over, and another story will focus on how Caesar is having a few issues remaining as leader of the Apes.
Gary Oldman is set to play Dreyfus, leader of the human resistance after the apes have taken power.
Fox has set the film for release on May 23, 2014.
