Creepy new poster arrives for The Sound of My Voice director’s sinister follow up, ‘The East’

A new poster has landed for director Zal Batmanglij’s chilling new thriller, The East. The director once again teams up with actress and writer Brit Marling after the pair impressed viewers with their stunning cult based thriller, The Sound of My Voice (review).

Now they are at it again with another slice of chilling cinema which has already won some exceptional reviews after playing at Sundance recently. The new poster features the three main characters, with the chilling words “spy on us, we’ll spy on you” written on the bottom. A sinister warning indeed, and those masks are very creepy.

If you have not seen the brilliant trailer yet, I have included it here for your viewing pleasure. Enjoy!

Directed by Zal Batmanglij, the film is co-written by Batmanglij and Brit Marling. The cast icludes Ellen Page, Alexander Skarsgard, Brit Marling, Julia Ormond, Shiloh Fernandez, Patricia Clarkson, Toby Kebbell, Aldis Hodge and Billy Slaughter.

In THE EAST, Sarah Moss (Marling) is a brilliant operative for an elite private intelligence firm whose top objective is to ruthlessly protect the interests of their A-list corporate clientele. She is assigned to go undercover to infiltrate an anarchist collective known for executing covert attacks upon major corporations. Living amongst them in an effort to get closer to their members, Sarah finds herself unexpectedly torn between two worlds as she starts to fall in love with the group’s charismatic leader, finding her life and her priorities irrevocably changed.

A keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
