The film won some terrific word of mouth after playing at the Toronto International Film Festival as part of its Midnight Madness programme, and the film just played at the SXSW festival this weekend. Adam Wingard is fast becoming one of the most exciting directors working in horror today. Already he gave us the “Tape 56? segment of the found footage anthology, VHS, and also delivered one of the best horrors of 2012 with the stunning A Horrible Way To Die. His writing partner Simon Barrett is responsible for writing both the segment for VHS and also A Horrible Way To Die, the pair seem unstoppable.

They have collaborated again on home invasion horror You’re Next, and after a hugely successful festival run this year, the film is finally arriving in US cinemas 23rd August 2013 courtesy of Lionsgate, and currently IMDB is showing the UK release as the same day. It is doubtful that the UK release will be the same as the US, but that is what it says right now.

However, what is certain is that You’re Next will be one of the best horrors 2013 has to offer, and the talk of this film after showing at festivals has been nothing but praise. The film has been considered genius, the best the horror genre has to offer, and a work of incredible writing and directing talent. The film is pretty much regarded as one of the must-see films of 2013, and horror fans are quite simply foaming at the mouth with anticipation to see it.

About Matt Wavish 9999 Articles
A keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
