This week could officially be called Iron Man week as we have seen a lot of promotional activity. First came the epic and bloody incredible new trailer, and over the past week or so we have seen a number of new character posters revealed too. Today see’s the release of yet another poster, and this one focuses on Tony Stark and Pepper Potts having a bit if a hugging session while chaos goes on around them.

The poster may not be the best one released, and Pepper Potts looks a little too much like Kirsten Dunst in Spider-Man, but hey, its new Iron Man stuff so who am I to complain. Also revealed is a new international poster which is basically the same as the ‘hugging session’ poster with added Iron Man suits at the bottom.

Also revealed a day ago was the international trailer for Iron Man 3. It is basically the same as the version released at the beginning of the week, but with a tiny amount of new footage (see if you can spot it!) and it includes Chinese subtitles. Check out the trailer and new posters below.

Co-writer and director Shane Black spoke with SFX Magazine this week, and he described how the Warren Ellis ‘Extremis’ comic book storyline was adapted into Iron Man 3:

“In the Extremis comic book, there’s a type of thing that takes over and basically upgrades DNA. Sometimes you die. But if you live through the experience then you come out this changed thing. But the way they do it is the guy that does it is not some man chosen to be the super soldier -he’s just a militia guy. There’s an element of realism to it as well. So what we’ve tried to do is take this very science-fictiony concept of super people, and ground it in the type of people who volunteer for this being not necessarily super villains, but just people who upgrade.

I love the idea of a super villain that doesn’t wear a cape, that doesn’t wear a super suit. That goes around dressed as you are right now. As for the science of it, once again we’ve gone back to the comic books, and I think prettymuch lifted the Maya Hensen idea, that she met [Tony] long ago and had the germ of an idea, which now has come to fruition full circle, but she’s afraid because it’s gotten out there. And we go from there. I think you’ll be interested in the effect that we generate to demonstrate what Extremis does to a human being. It’s a pretty interesting special effect. But we’ve deliberately stayed away from defining, ‘Oh it’s nanites.’ What we do keep from the comic is the idea that there’s a slot in the brain that seems to have been dormant, but exists in human beings, almost as though it’s waiting for human beings to find a way to fill it. It’s been there forever.”

Iron Man 3 is directed by Shane Black (Kiss Kiss Bang Bang), and Black also co-writes with Drew Pearce. Iron Man 3 stars Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man, Marvel’s The Avengers) as the iconic Super Hero character Tony Stark/Iron Man along with Gwyneth Paltrow (Iron Man,Iron Man 2,) as Pepper Potts, Don Cheadle (Iron Man 2) as James “Rhodey” Rhodes and Jon Favreau (Iron Man,Iron Man 2) as Happy Hogan. Iron Man 3 continues the epic, big-screen adventures of the world’s favorite billionaire inventor/Super Hero, Tony Stark aka “Iron Man.” Sir Ben Kingsley will be playing the role of the villain, The Mandarin, and Guy Pearce will play the role of Aldrich Killian.

Iron Man 3 kicks off Marvel’s Phase Two on 26th April 2013.

A keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
