I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again, put Kate Beckinsale in anything and I’ll watch it. Put Kate Beckinsale in a new psychological thriller by director Brad Anderson, AND based on an Edgar Allan Poe story, and I want to see it like yesterday!
Eliza Graves is based on an early 1945 Poe short story called “The System of Doctor Tarr and Professor Fether”, and originally Paranormal Activity’s Oren Peli was attached to direct. Session 9, The Machinist and The Call director Brad Anderson took over directing duties back in November, and now Nu Image and Millenium are in talks with Beckinsale to have her play the title role.
If she agrees, Beckinsale would play “a Harvard Medical School grad who takes a job at an insane asylum, falling for one of the doctors but then discovering that the occupants have taken it over.” Production on the film is expected to begin on June 21st in Bulgaria.
Producing are Bruce Davey, Mel Gibson, Mark Amin, Cami Winikoff and Paranormal Activity director Oren Peli. David Higgins, Christa Campbell and Lati Grobman are executive producing.
