Deadline has reported that JJ Abrams’ Star Trek Into Darkness is set to arrive in the UK one week earlier than scheduled. The sequel, set to become one of the years biggest films, will now arrive in UK cinemas in IMAX, 3D and 2D on 9th May, a week earlier than the films US release.
Simon Pegg, who plays Scotty in the film, confirmed the news through his Twitter account:
“Looks like Star Trek Into Darkness will land in the UK first. Release date May 9th. That’s about 8 weeks away. Not long considering.”

Star Trek Into Darkness is directed by JJ Abrams, and the cast includes Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban, Benedict Cumberbatch, Zoe Saldana, Alice Eve, Anton Yelchin, Simon Pegg, John Cho and Peter Weller. Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman and Damon Lindelof are on writing duties.
Star Trek 2 will arrive in UK cinemas 9th May 2013.
