Director Mike Cahill is set to make his follow up to the Sundance favourite sci-fi love story, Another Earth (review), and will not only be sticking with a familiar formula, but also casting Brit Marling to star in the film. Marling co-wrote and starred in Another Earth, and Cahill plans to stick with the sci-fi with human drama formula for the follow up, titled I Origins.

Deadline reports that Michael Pitt (Boardwalk Empire), Brit Marling (Sound of My Voice),Astrid Berges-Frisbey (Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides), Steven Yeun (The Walking Dead), and Emmy-winner Archie Panjabi (The Good Wife).

There’s no word on when production begins, but here is the very interesting synopsis:

A keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
