Some very interesting casting updates have been announced today. First up is Cillian Murphy is set to join Wally Pfifster’s upcoming sci-fi Transcendence. Pfifster worked as cinematographer on Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy and also Inception, and Transcendence will be his directorial debut.

Murphy is set to play one of the three male leads, and joins the already cast Johnny Depp, Paul Bettany, Rebecca Hall and Kate Mara. Plot details are being very heavily guarded right now, but are  rumored to concern a scientist whose brain gets uploaded into a supercomputer.

Murphy has appeared in many of my favourite films, including Sunshine, Inception, Red Lights, The Dark Knight trilogy and  28 Days Later.

The film is being financed and produced by Alcon Entertainment’s Broderick Johnson and Andrew Kosove and will be released by Warner Bros. The film will also be produced by Straight Up Films’ Annie Marter, Marisa Polvino and Kate Cohen along with David Valdes. Pfister will direct from newcomer Jack Paglen’s screenplay, which was developed with Annie Marter, with the most recent draft by Noah Oppenheim. Christopher Nolan and Emma Thomas are serving as executive producers. Straight Up’s Regency Boies will co-produce.

Michael Bay also revealed a new cast member joining his Transformers 4. Stanley Tucci will be joining the already cast Mark Wahlberg, Jack Reynor and Nicola Peltz.  Tucci has appeared in over 100 films and TV series’ including The Hunger Games, The Lovely Bones, Road to Perdition and Jack the Giant Slayer. No details have been revealed of who Tucci will play.

Here are the most recent plot details for Michael Bay’s Transformers 4:

As humanity picks up the pieces, following the conclusion of Transformers: Dark of the Moon, Autobots and Decepticons have all but vanished from the face of the planet. However, a group of powerful, ingenious businessman and scientists attempt to learn from past Transformer incursions and push the boundaries of technology beyond what they can control – all while an ancient, powerful Transformer menace sets Earth in his crosshairs. The epic adventure and battle between good and evil, freedom and enslavement ensues.

A keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
