‘R.I.P.D’ reveals first trailer, poster, official synopsis and images

Director Robert Schwentke’s adaptation of the Dark Horse comic R.I.P.D has been in the works for a long, long time, and after seeing the first image earlier this week, I just knew a trailer was coming. It has, and you can view it right here!

The film see’s Ryan Reynolds play Nick Walker, a newly deceased cop who joins the R.I.P.D, a police force of the dead looking to rid the world of monsters. Walker is teamed up with veteran R.I.P.D cop Roy Pulsifer (Jeff Bridges) and must earn his trust and respect as they conquer evil. The trailer is filled with tons of comedy, cool action and delivers a massive Men in Black type vibe. Bridges owns the trailer, and you would be forgiven for not realising Reynolds was actually in it because Bridges is loud and brilliant.

I like the trailer, it is a lot of fun, but I am not convinced this will be quite as good as I was hoping for.

The Dark Horse Comics adaptation is directed by Robert Schwentke (Red, Flightplan) and the cast includes Ryan Reynolds, Jeff Bridges, Kevin Bacon, Stephanie Szostak, Mary-Louise Parker, Marisa Miller, Mike O’Malley, James Hong, Tobias Segal, and Robert Knepper.

Jeff Bridges and Ryan Reynolds headline the 3D supernatural action-adventure R.I.P.D. as two cops dispatched by the otherworldly Rest In Peace Department to protect and serve the living from an increasingly destructive array of souls who refuse to move peacefully to the other side.

Veteran sheriff Roy Pulsifer (Bridges) has spent his career with the legendary police force known as R.I.P.Dtracking monstrous spirits who are cleverly disguised as ordinary people.  His mission?  To arrest and bring to justice a special brand of criminals trying to escape final judgment by hiding among the unsuspecting on Earth.

Once the wise-cracking Roy is assigned former rising-star detective Nick Walker (Reynolds) as his junior officer, the new partners have to turn grudging respect into top-notch teamwork.  When they uncover a plot that could end life as we know it, two of R.I.P.D.’s finest must miraculously restore the cosmic balance…or watch the tunnel to the afterlife begin sending angry souls the very wrong way.

A keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
