Usually at conventions like WonderCon and ComicCon, exclusive clips and trailers stay that way, exclusive only for those in attendance. However, there has been so much talk of the Pacific Rim trailer played at WonderCon (so awesome it had to be played twice!!), and fans are so hungry to see more of the giant robots vs giant monsters epic, director Guillermo del Toro and Warner Brothers have given in to the demand.
Del Toro said “This was originally intended for only WonderCon, but after listening to so many of you asking for more of the movie online, I think it’s time for me to show you more footage. Enjoy, my friends!”
So now that WonderCon Pacific Rim trailer, you know, the one with the Jaegar dragging a fucking ship down a city street to use as a weapon against a massive Kaiju, has now broke free and is available on-line. You can view the trailer, which is filled with awesome new footage and plenty of giant monster fights, below but please, try to contain your excitement, the film still has over two months before its release!
Directed by Guillermo del Toro and written by Travis Beacham, Pacific Rim stars Idris Elba (Prometheus), Ron Perlman (Hellboy), Charlie Hunnam (Horrible Bosses), Charlie Day, Clifton Collins Jr, Rinko Kikuchi and Robert Maillet.
When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity’s resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes – a washed up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi) – who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind’s last hope against the mounting apocalypse.
Release Date 12th July 2013
