Many regarded last years Men in Black 3 as the worst in the series. I didn’t, in fact, I actually really enjoyed it, and while many did complain at the so-called dip in quality, the film went on to make a staggering $620 million worldwide, making it the most successful film in the series.
Naturally Sony feel there is still life in the series, and have plans to move ahead with a fourth film. Will Smith, Tommy Lee Jones and Josh Brolin have not been confirmed to be returning, and with Will Smith being notoriously difficult, the entire idea of a fourth film will pretty much be down to whether he is onboard or not. However, while no actors, director or producers have been confirmed, Sony has hired a writer to pen the treatment for a fourth film.
Oren Uziel is already writing the sequel to 21 Jump Street for Sony, and they were so impressed with his pitch for Men in Black 4 that they have now hired him to write the fourth Men in Black film. Uziel’s previous writing credits include The Kitchen Sink, Mortal Kombat: Rebirth and he is also due to write a new Mortal Kombat movie. No other details have been released about just what Sony plan to do with the next Men in Black film, but keep it here for further updates.
