Sarah Gadon was most recently seen in David Cronenberg’s Cosmopolis as the sexy Elise Shifrin, and now the Canadian born stunner is about to become the love interest of Dracula himself.

Variety is reporting that Gadon has joined the cast of director Gary Shore’s origin story, Dracula, and she will join Luke Evans (who is playing Dracula). Gadon is no stranger to dark tales, as she has appeared in a number of Cronenberg films including Cosmopolis, A Dangerous Method and Cronenberg Jnr’s Antiviral. She has also appeared in Dream House and The Moth Diaries, plus a number of TV series’ including Murdoch Mysteries, Total Drama Island and Happy Town.

Originally called Dracula Year Zero, the origin story about how Prince Vlad sacrificed himself to save his family from a vicious sultan did have Alex Proyas (Dark City, The Crow) attached to direct, with Sam Worthington to star. However, commercials director Gary Shore came onboard last year, and now Luke Evans and Gadon are set to star.

The script tells of a young prince who, when the lives of his wife and child are put in danger by a bloodthirsty sultan, risks his soul to save them, and in the process becomes the first vampire.

Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless wrote the latest draft of the script and Michael De Luca will produce through his Michael De Luca Prods. banner.

A keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
