While we have all had a pretty good idea that Edgar Wrights new comedy, The World’s End, involved some kind of end of the world shenanigans, until now we have never been all that clear on just what might be happening. However, a UK quad poster has landed to give us a hint at the threat mankind is up against, and the problems facing five friends who would rather go in an almighty pub crawl instead.
The poster features what looks like asteroids falling from the sky, and there is also a line of humans who appear to be under some kind of mind control? There are also humans, or as I suspect aliens, standing in the background with their eyes glowing. The warning of “prepare to get annihilated” also hints at alien activity, cool!
Directed and co-written by Edgar Wright, and co-written by Simon Pegg, the film stars Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Rosamund Pike, Paddy Considine, Martin Freeman and Eddie Marsan.
The World’s End arrives in UK cinemas 19th July 2013.
20 years after attempting an epic pub crawl, five childhood friends reunite when one of them becomes hell bent on trying the drinking marathon again. They are convinced to stage an encore by mate Gary King, a 40-year old man trapped at the cigarette end of his teens, who drags his reluctant pals to their home town and once again attempts to reach the fabled pub, The World’s End. As they attempt to reconcile the past and present, they realize the real struggle is for the future, not just theirs but humankind’s. Reaching The World’s End is the least of their worries.
