Marc Forster’s much talked about zombie epic, World War Z, is less than a month away from release and Paramount are stepping up the promotional activity to remind us all that it is coming.
A set of banners have been released and I assume there are many more to follow. The banners show famous capitols collapsing under the chaos and devastation of the worldwide zombie epidemic. In the first collection of banners we see Berlin (above), Rome, Sydney, Paris, Mexico City and that awful image of Brad Pitt and his family which was revealed as the latest poster a few days ago.
With the UK being absent, and many other places, including the US, I would imagine many more of these banners to turn up over the coming days and weeks.
The film is based on the novel written by Max Brooks, and the screenplay was written by Matthew Michael Carnahan and J. Michael Stracynski and the film stars Brad Pitt, Mireille Enos, James Badge Dale, Elyes Gabel and Julia Levy-Boeken. Brad Pitt’s own production company Plan B are involved in this epic tale of the greatest Zombie war the world has ever known. Filming in locations all over the world, the film will take place ten years after the war and survivors are asked to re-live their accounts of what happened to them.
World War Z, directed by Marc Forster, is due to arrive in UK cinemas June 21st 2013.
The story is said to revolve around United Nations employee Gerry Lane (Pitt), who traverses the world in a race against time to stop the Zombie pandemic that is toppling armies and governments and threatening to decimate humanity itself. Enos plays Gerry’s wife Karen Lane; Kertesz is his comrade in arms, Segen. The plot is a bit interesting because the Max Brooks best-selling novel World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War which the movie is based on, dealt with the aftermath of the zombie apocalypse. Hopefully this approach will work for the film.
