Casting opened for Star Wars: Episode VII, female teens, handsome men & fit actors/actresses wanted

Star Wars Ladies

According to sources at Bleeding Cool, a verified casting breakdown for agents has been released for Star Wars: Episode VII. With offices set up in the UK, open casting started today and are seeking the following character descriptions:

Late-teen female, independent, good sense of humour, fit.

Young twenty-something male, witty and smart, fit but not traditionally good looking.

A late twenty something male, fit, handsome and confident.

Seventy-something male, with strong opinions and tough demeanour. Also doesn’ t need to be particularly fit.

A second young female, also late teens, tough, smart and fit.

Forty something male, fit, military type.

Thirty something male, intellectual. Apparently doesn’t need to be fit.

The descriptions certainly don’t give enough way to determine characters from the upcoming film but if the rumours surrounding Han, Luke and Leia’s teenage kids appearing in the next film as the main characters in Episode VII are anything to go by, the character descriptions do go some way to confirm it. Bleeding Cool has also confirmed that these will be major roles. I also wonder if these roles will be cast to unknowns, given that Abrams cast Chris Pine as Captain Kirk in the Star Trek movies, who was pretty much unknown at the time.

You can’t also help but speculate about the seventy-something male as a potential Han Solo, with Harrison Ford saying in the past that he would be open to returning as the heroic outlaw, as has both Carrie Fisher and and Mark Hamill.

So exciting times ahead as we get closer to some details on the next installment of Star Wars! Watch this space.

Star Wars: Episode VII will be directed by J.J. Abrams from a screenplay by Michael Arndt and is scheduled for a 2015 release.
