Man of Steel has soared to the top of the box office after taking in a humongous $44.1 million on Friday, bringing the total number since release on Thursday to $56.1 million, and set to exceed Warner Bros. projection of $85 million by Sunday. And what with Saturday’s takings including Sunday’s yet to come, it is projected that Man of Steel may earn about $125 million, the Superman film would rank as the second highest 2013 opening weekend, with Iron Man 3 in prime position with $174.1 million. Man of Steel has also secured the highest June opening of all time, overtaking past Toy Story 3 and Transfomers: Revenge of the Fallen.
What with it also being Father’s Day today, and the strong emotional story about Superman and his two fathers, the film is expected to be even more successful, which may give the film a further boost in takings.
