Tom Hardy is a truly awesome actor. Appearing in films like The Dark Knight Rises, Bronson, Warrior, Lawless, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and Inception, the London born actor can always bring menace, power and charisma to whatever role he chooses. Now, according to Deadline, Hardy will star in a film called The Outsider, and legendary Japanese director Takashi Miike is in talks to make the film his English language directorial debut.
Having Hardy star is exciting enough, but having such a force as Miike directing is simply too good to miss, and should Miike take the job, The Outsider might very well become one of the most exciting films of 2014.
Per Deadline: The project, originally set at Warner Bros, will be independently financed to shoot in Japan early next year. It’s an epic story set in post-World War II Japan, chronicling the life of a former American G.I. who becomes part of the Japaneseyakuza.
The film is based on an original idea by John Linson, who will produce along with Art Linson through their Linson Entertainment banner. Joel Silver, Andrew Rona and Steve Richards will produce for Silver Pictures.
