With the superb horror flicks Dread and Cassadaga, and the awesome looking The Missionary on the way, director Anthony DiBlasi has proved himself to the horror genre big time. His restrained, story heavy approach to horror makes his films stand out, and when the director wants to pile on the violence, gore and fear factor, he really knows how to play the game. With The Missionary now complete, the director has already moved on to his next project, Paymon.
Paymon focuses on a female rookie cop who spends the night in a police station which is haunted by a vicious serial killer and his followers. Known as The King of Hell, serial killer John Michael Paymon and his followers committed suicide in the police station, and are rumoured to have haunted it ever since.
Three character posters have been released through different websites, and two of the posters came with their own description.
Bloody Disgusting revealed the poster for Paymon himself, describing it as “John Michael Paymon, arrested for 1st degree murder. Paymon shot, stabbed, and killed two police officers and six women at a vacant estate deep in the heart of Sanford. Paymon is an avid artist and has a master’s degree in criminology. Paymon enjoys being the center of attention and has been known to frequent college campuses where he enjoys showing off his art and sharing his propaganda. Paymon has alleged ties to several unsolved murders all over the continental US. He has many followers, all considered extremely dangerous”
Fearnet revealed the poster for Dorthea Perkins: “arrested for 1st degree murder. Perkins shot, stabbed, and killed two police officers and six women at a vacant estate deep in the heart of Sanford. Perkins is the daughter of a preacher and youngest of eight siblings. She was expelled from high school after stabbing the principle with a pencil. Her parents sent her to a reform school where she later escaped after poisoning the entire staff. She hitchhiked across the Florida panhandle where she met Paymon and became one of his loyal followers”
The film is written by Anthony DiBlasi and Scott Poiley, and DiBlasi brings his natural talents to direct. The cast includes Juliana Harkavy, Joshua Mikel, J. LaRose, Natalie Victoria, Sarah Sculco, Kathryn Kilger, Erica Lea Shelton and Randy Monar.
Officer Jessica Loren (Harkavy) has the last shift at a transitioning police station, assigned to wait for a hazmat crew who’s coming to pick up bio-hazard waste from the armory. But unbeknownst to Jessica, it’s more than just an old station. Cult leader John Michael Paymon has haunted the department ever since he and two of his followers committed suicide on the night they were captured. And now Jessica is about to find out how dangerous they can really be when she’s left all alone on this graveyard shift.
