There hasn’t been much to report on Universal’s Samurai revenge thriller, 47 Ronin, and from what I have read things have not been going all that well. Commercials director Carl Rinsch has reportedly been removed from the editing room after his film’s budget has gone from $175 million to $225 million, and the films release date was pushed back from December 2012 to February this year. Then the release date was pushed back again to December this year, and at this moment in time the film is looking likely to be released here in the UK on Boxing Day this year.
Universal have now released the first set of character posters for the film which is a good sign that things are looking good for the film, and the actual posters themselves are very well designed and look rather nice! Check them out below.
47 Ronin is directed by Carl Rinsch and written by Chris Morgan and Hossein Amini. The cast includes Keanu Reeves, Hiroyuki Sanada, Tadanobu Asano, Rinko Kikuchi, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa and Ko Shibasaki.
Synopsis:
From ancient Japan’s most enduring tale, the epic 3D fantasy-adventure 47 Ronin is born. Keanu Reeves leads the cast as Kai, an outcast who joins Oishi (Hiroyuki Sanada), the leader of the 47 outcast samurai. Together they seek vengeance upon the treacherous overlord who killed their master and banished their kind. To restore honor to their homeland, the warriors embark upon a quest that challenges them with a series of trials that would destroy ordinary warriors.
