Breathe monster fans, breathe, there are just nine days to go before Guillermo del Toro’s mighty Pacific Rim smashes its way into cinemas, which gives us just enough time for one last trailer.
Seriously if you are not sold on this behemoth of a movie, then it is too late for you, and there is no hope. However, those who are desperate to cancel the apocalypse like the rest of us, then check out a brand new trailer below, and check out a whole heap of new footage too!
This final trailer (or is it?) focuses mainly on the giant robots known as Jaegars, and the teams behind creating them and driving them, and the entire trailer is put together with that creepy breathing sound heard in the extended TV spot last week, and the familiar (but always welcome) speech by Idris Elba is present, correct, and a little longer. Come on, “WE ARE CANCELLING THE APOCALYPSE!!!”
Also revealed yesterday is a collection of new posters for the film. The posters feature two Jaegars, the US Gypsy Danger and Australia’s Striker Eureka, plus two of the enormous Kaiju get their chance to shine with their own posters.
Directed by Guillermo del Toro and written by Travis Beacham, Pacific Rim stars Idris Elba (Prometheus), Ron Perlman (Hellboy), Charlie Hunnam (Horrible Bosses), Charlie Day, Clifton Collins Jr, Rinko Kikuchi and Robert Maillet.
When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity’s resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes – a washed up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi) – who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind’s last hope against the mounting apocalypse.
