First stunning trailer for Out of the Furnace, starring Christian Bale & Casey Affleck


The first trailer has been released for Scott Cooper’s Out of the Furnace. Directed by Scott Cooper (Crazy Heart), the film stars Christian Bale as an ex-con steel worker who seeks vengeance after his brother (Casey Affleck) vanishes after being lured into a ruthless crime ring. Cooper has been quoted saying “this is the story of this man who works in a blast furnace, but with themes of justice, retribution and courage.”

The trailer features Pearl Jam’s song Release and looks stunning, moving, intense and downright bloody awesome. I simply can’t wait for this and with the impressive cast, it looks like it will deliver and more. Check it out below.

The film also stars Zoe Saldana, Sam Shepard, Willem Dafoe, Woody Harrelson and Forest Whitaker. 

Out of the Furnace is due for limited release on 27th November 2013 and wider release on 6th December 2013.


The film is a drama about fate, circumstance, and redemption. Russell and his younger brother live in the economically depressed Rust Belt, and have always dreamed of escaping and finding better lives. But when a cruel twist of fate lands Russell in prison, his brother is lured into one of the most violent and ruthless crime rings in the Northeast – a mistake that will almost cost him everything.  Once released, Russell must choose between his own freedom, or risk it all to seek justice for his brother.
