Here be monsters!!! ‘Pacific Rim’ reveals new Kaiju featurette plus a new clip involving a Jaegar, a Kaiju and a ship!

With just over a week to go before the release of Pacific Rim, Warner Brothers and Legendary are going all out to ensure their marketing reaches as many people as possible. With still half of their advertising budget to spend, expect a barrage of goodies over the next week.

Today though, and finally, it is all about the Kaiju, the massive monsters which have come up from the oceans to destroy our world. In Japan the word Kaiju means monsters, and these creatures most definitely are monsters, they are HUGE! Now, while most of the featurettes and clips have been focused on the Jaegar robots, we finally get a featurette based around the Kaiju and it makes for a very exciting three and a half minutes.

Also released is a brand new clip which features that jaw dropping scene where a Jaegar robot smashes a Kaiju in the face with a freakin ship! Awesome, check out both videos below.

Directed by Guillermo del Toro and written by Travis Beacham, Pacific Rim stars Idris Elba (Prometheus), Ron Perlman (Hellboy), Charlie Hunnam (Horrible Bosses), Charlie Day, Clifton Collins Jr, Rinko Kikuchi  and Robert Maillet.

When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity’s resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes – a washed up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi) – who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind’s last hope against the mounting apocalypse.

Release Date 12th July 2013

A keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
