It was almost a year ago to the day that we shared the trailer for Erik Van Looy’s remake of his own Belgian thriller, The Loft. With an impressive and sexy cast, the dark horror thriller looked very promising indeed, and the trailer hinted at plenty of sexy and nasty stuff to come from the film. Then it vanished…
Dark Castle have produced the film, and things have been quiet ever since the trailer, but Universal have now announced (finally) a US release date for the film. However, don’t get too excited just yet, because the release date is a whole year away! The Loft will arrive in US cinemas on August 29th, 2014!!!
That is a mighty long wait, so to keep you interested, I have re-posted the trailer below as a quick reminder (courtesy of Bloody Disgusting)
The Loft is directed by Erik Van Looy, and is an English language remake of his own Belgian film. Wentworth Miller, James Marsden, Karl Urban, Eric Stonestreet and Matthias Schoenaerts star alongside Rhona Mitra, Isabel Lucas, Rachael Taylor, Margarita Levieva and Kristin Lehman.
The synopsis for the original film goes a little something like this:
5 friends who are all married and know each other very well decide to rent a loft together. In this loft they meet their mistresses. Everything is OK until one morning the body of an unknown young woman is found in the loft. The 5 friends begin to suspect each other of murder. And it becomes clear that they don’t know each other as good as they always thought.
