A couple of rumours were floating around the speculative Internet this week, rumours we shared with you here. The first was the speculation that Simon Pegg was hinting at the possibility of playing Ant-Man in his buddy Edgar Wright’s Marvel film.
The idea was spurred on by an image Pegg posted on Twitter where he was outside the Marvel studios, and like Vin Diesel a few weeks earlier, posed next to an image of a Marvel character, only this time Pegg was pointing at Ant-Man. That point was obviously a clear indication he was about to star in Wright’s Ant-Man film, and couldn’t possibly be a simple gesture of excitement about his pals new film!
Anyway, Wright himself has cleared up the matter on Twitter saying: “No, Simon Pegg is not Ant-Man,”
Realising he may have caused a bit of an Internet meltdown, Pegg too felt the need to make things clear: “All I did was point at the central character in my friend’s next movie, because I’m excited for him. I am not Ant-Man.”
Another rumour which landed this week was that Hugh Jackman was going to be offered $100 million to appear in a further four X-Men films as Wolverine. These rumours have also been denied by Jackman himself.
He told EW on the set of X-Men: Days of Future Past: “No it’s not true,I would never do that. I’ve never done that mainly because, for the fans and for me, each time I’ve gone around there’s been a really good reason to do it and I don’t know what that reason is from here. I’m in the middle of making this and I just promoted the other and I’m really happy with the way The Wolverine came out.”
