Vin Diesel has huge respect from his fans, and for good reason, the man is a genuine nice guy who has a real passion for both his fans and his movies. The proof of that is in what he has done to get the new Riddick film made.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Diesel said “I had to leverage my house. If we didn’t finish the film, I would be homeless.” Now that’s dedication to getting a film made, and the reason he so desperately wanted to do the sequel? Diesel explained that a fan said to him “We want a rated-R movie and we’d be willing to pay $10 each. Surely you’d have enough to make it then.

Not wanting to disappoint his loyal fan, Diesel said  “Something about that comment made me think, ‘Bless their heart,’ and if I can do anything with this newfound success, if I could do anything at all, I could deliver on that wish.

A top man indeed! Let’s just hope that Riddick achieves success at the box office when it is released next week.

Directed by David Twohy, Riddick stars Vin Diesel who reprises his role as the antihero Riddick, a dangerous, escaped convict wanted by every bounty hunter in the known galaxy.

Riddick also sees the return of Karl Urban (Star Trek) as Vaako and introduces to the series previously announced cast member Jordi Molla as Santana, the arrogant captain of the mercenary ship; Matt Nable (Killer Elite) as Boss Johns, a man looking for answers; Katee Sackhoff (Battlestar Galactica) as the Nordic mercenary Dahl; and Bokeem Woodbine (Total Recall) as bounty hunter Moss. Rounding out the cast are Dave Bautista (The Scorpion King 3: Battle for Redemption), Conrad Pla (Immortals), Raoul Trujillo (Apocalypto), Nolan Funk (Aliens in America) and two-time Grammy Award-nominated singer Keri Hilson.

Riddick arrives in cinemas 4th September.

Synopsis:

The infamous Riddick has been left for dead on a sun-scorched planet that appears to be lifeless. Soon, however, he finds himself fighting for survival against alien predators more lethal than any human he’s encountered. The only way off is for Riddick to activate an emergency beacon and alert mercenaries who rapidly descend to the planet in search of their bounty.

The first ship to arrive carries a new breed of merc, more lethal and violent, while the second is captained by a man whose pursuit of Riddick is more personal. With time running out and a storm on the horizon that no one could survive, his hunters won’t leave the planet without Riddick’s head as their trophy.

A keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
