eOne have revealed the trailer and poster for brand new Gothic horror, We Are What We Are, a film which our very own Matt Wavish gave a whopping 9/10 review of after its Film4 Frightfest screening last month.

Directed by up and coming talent Jim Mickle and starring Michael Parks (Django Unchained) and Bill Sage (American Psycho), We Are What We Are is released to UK cinemas on 25th October 2013.

A seemingly wholesome and benevolent family, the Parkers have always kept to themselves. Behind closed doors, patriarch Frank (Bill Sage – Boardwalk Empire, American Psycho) rules his family with a rigorous fervour, determined to keep his family’s ancestral customs intact at any cost. As a torrential rainstorm moves into their small town, tragedy strikes and his daughters Iris (Ambyr Childers – Gangster Squad, The Master) and Rose (Julia Garner – The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Martha Marcy May Marlene) are forced to assume responsibilities that extend beyond those of a typical family. The most important task they face is putting food on the table! As the unrelenting downpour continues to flood the area, the local authorities begin to uncover clues that bring them closer to the secret that the Parkers have concealed for so many years.

In this reimagining of the 2010 Mexican film of the same name, director Jim Mickle paints a gruesome and suspenseful portrait of an introverted family struggling to keep their macabre traditions alive, giving us all food for thought.
