About Bat 7191 Articles
I love prosthetic effects, stop-motion animation and gore, but most of all I love a good story! I adore B-movies and exploitation films in many of their guises and also have a soft spot for creature features. I review a wide range of media including movies, TV series, books and videogames. I'm a massive fan of author Hunter S. Thompson and I enjoy various genre of videogames with Kingdom Hearts and Harvest Moon two of my all time favs. Currently playing: Kingdom Come: Deliverance

  1. Tetsuo Shima (Akira) – the first Anime I ever watched and the film, and especially this character is responsible for my love of anime

  2. Seita (Grave of fireflies)- he is a character you can’t help but love, he was willing to do anything he could to make his little sister happy, and the pure love between them both was heart melting, he will probably always be my favourite anime character! 🙂

  3. Afro Samurai – brilliant mash-up of ideas. Feudal Japan transposed to the future with a bit of spaghetti western, Batman and Shaft thrown in. If Tarantino was making anime this would be the result.

  4. Motoko Kusanagi – Violet eyes & Violet hair is her most identifiable look, this amazing cyborg female heroine always manages to capture the screen, with a deep and complex character and back ground, fully cyborg-ed at a young age , she grew through a series of different body types, as an amazing hacker and fighter with super powers such as strength and speed.
She may not remember her original life or age but she is surely a number on contender, for my number one Anime char.

  5. My favourite anime character has to be Monkey D. Luffy. Who else but the future Pirate King? He’s my favourite character because hes funny, powerful, but most of all loyal.

  6. Claire Stanfield from Baccano! He’s absolutely insane, yet he’s ridiculously entertaining to watch and he’s easily the strongest character in the series.

  7. Major Motoko Kusanagi from Ghost in the Shell – cyborg strong, yet emotionally fragile. And beautiful, when fully dressed. She truly is a “Lithium Flower”

  8. Seita Grave of the fireflies. I sobbed and sobbed when watching that beautiful film. One of the most moving films I have ever seen.

  9. Pikachu from Pokémon, simply because he introduced me the wonderful world of Japanese Animé.
He was my first…and they say you always remember your first 😉

  10. Kino from Kino no Tabi: The Beautiful World (even if I did have trouble trying to figure out if they were a boy or girl!) Kino has to be the most calm and laid-back character I’ve ever seen especially considering some of the ‘what the h**l is going on’ situations she got into!

  11. My favourite is Uncle Pomme from Castle in the Sky because he looked just like our next door neighbour. I used to tell the kids that our neighbour really was Uncle Pomme. I lost count of the times the girls would call him Uncle Pomme by accident – luckily he didn’t know what they were talking about.
