Radio Silence’s new found footage horror ‘Devil’s Due’ gets US release date!

The first VHS horror anthology was a bit hit and miss, but there is no denying that Radio Silence’s final segment, 10/31/98 (above), was the best of the bunch. When the directing team of Tyler Gillett, Chad Villella, Matt Dettinelli-Olpin and Justin Martinez announced in March there new feature length found footage horror, Devil’s Due, horror fans were very excited.

Things have been quiet ever since, with the film being made almost in secret, and while there are still no plot details to share with you, Twentieth Century Fox have announced a US theatrical release date.

Devil’s Due will open in US cinemas on January 17th 2014, making it the second found footage horror being released that month. Also released, in the US and the UK on January 3rd 2014 is Paramount’s Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones (the Latino spin-off). Both Fox and Paramount are looking to capitalize on the usually strong month for horror films.

In January 2012, Paramount scored a huge US box office hit with The Devil Inside, and this was repeated this year with Lionsgate’s Texas Chainsaw 3D. Both Devil’s Due and Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones are expected to follow suit.

The cast of Devil’s Due includes Zach Gilford (The Last Stand and TV series Friday Night Lights) and Allison Miller (17 Again, TV series Terra Nova). The film was shot on location in Dominican Republic and New Orleans, with John Davis producing. Lindsay Devlin wrote the script, and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett directed for Radio Silence.

A keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
